If you don't want a blurred picture, you'll need to first lock the cameras focus with the subject in the centre of the cameras viewfinder and then recompose the picture so the subject is away from the centre.
Usually you can lock the cameras focus in three steps.
- Step 1. Place your subject in the centre of the cameras viewfinder and press and hold the shutter button halfway down.
- Step 2. Reposition your camera (while still holding the shutter button) so the subject is away from the centre.
- Step 3. Finish by pressing the cameras shutter button all the way down to take the picture.

Vertical picturesAll sorts of things look better in a vertical picture, from a lighthouse near a cliff to the Eiffel Tower. So the next time you take a digital photograph, make a conscious effort to turn your digital camera sideways and take some vertical pictures.
